Frequently Asked Questions

SHIPPING

What locations do you ship to?

We ship throughout all of Australia & New Zealand, with shipping also available to other international locations upon request. All orders are sent from our warehouse in Sydney, NSW.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Orders are shipped generally shipped the same or next business day.

Standard delivery times:

  • Sydney / Melbourne / Brisbane : 1 to 2 days
  • Country NSW: 3 days
  • North QLD : 5 days
  • Adelaide : 3 days
  • Perth & Tasmania: 5 days
  • New Zealand: 5 days

Obviously the delivery time can vary, especially in rural or remote areas.... So please us the above as a guide only.

Following promotions and peak time (spring/summer), in rare cases dispatch may be 2+ days.  If there is to be any extended delay on an order for any reason, you will be contacted via email or phone.

Express post or express courier may be available, however it must be organised manually with one of our staff vie phone or email. Please note that these shipping costs can be significantly higher as although cat netting is light, express shipments are calculated on volumetric size.

What is Priority Dispatch?

Priority dispatch GUARANTEES your order will be dispatched with 1 business day from ordering. During peak periods, this helps you to "Jump-the-Queue" and ensure your order is dispatched as a priority. Please note that it does NOT mean it is being sent via Express, it will just ensure it is dispatched as a priority. Priority dispatch is $5, and is available as an option during checkout.

Which freight company will deliver my parcel, & what if i’m not home?

Catnets uses a range of carriers, utilising different services for different sizes parcels and different locations. Our staff determine the most appropriate service to suit your order. As a general rule, couriers are used throughout metropolitan areas and for larger orders, Australia Post is used for rural areas, and DHL is used for international orders.

Every order we send has item TRACKING, so you can track the progress of your delivery. If you have a specific courier requirement simply enter it in the special instructions section of the website checkout.

If you are not likely to be home at the time of delivery you have two options:

  1. Have the courier driver leave a failed to deliver card. You will then need to contact the freight company and reschedule delivery for a suitable time OR collect it from your local post office (if sent via Australia Post)
  2. You can request the driver to “Leave” the parcel in a safe place such as at the front door or through the side gate. You can give your “Authority to Leave” in the special instructions section of the website checkout.

How much does shipping cost?

Our online shopping cart will automatically calculate your freight cost based on your order size and your location.

Importantly, the shopping cart will show you the freight cost BEFORE you have committed to the purchase. Our volume ensures we receive excellent shipping rates from most carriers, and we don’t charge any additional handling or processing fees.

Import Information for N.Z customers?

As all goods are shipped from our Australian Warehouse, import duties and taxes may be payable on large orders.

New Zealand customs does not collect Duty and GST where the total revenue payable on  any one importation is less than $60. So in the case of Cat Netting from Catnets, orders under a value of approx NZ$350 won't have any payable amount upon arrival.

Example 1: (standard size order)

Goods Ordered: Cat netting: NZ$200       Duty on Netting at 5% : NZ$10       Freight: $50

Total Value $260

15% GST at $260 = $39.

As this amount is less than $60 there is no amount payable and your order will be shipped  to your door or Post Office with nothing else to pay.

Example 2: (large order)

Goods Ordered: Cat netting: NZ$406         Duty on Netting at 5% : NZ$20.30         Freight: $50

Total Value $476.30

15% GST at $476.30 = $71.45

As this amount is greater than $60 there is an amount payable to NZ Customs. You will be contacted upon the goods entering the country, and once paid the order will be released to you. There will also be an import entry transaction fee of NZ$38.07 (GST   inclusive) payable.

Simply navigate to a product at the bottom of any category page and “add to cart” the quantity required using the + or – buttons.

For any items listed as By-The-Metre, the quantity you enter will be a reflection of how many lineal metres you need. For example if you require 15m of black edging rope, you should select 15 as the qty in the  black rope “by-the-metre” product screen.

Once you have added all required items, press Proceed to Checkout and you will be directed to the simple checkout process screen.

For simple one-off purchases, you can simply checkout as a guest, with no need to sign in.

For regular customers you have the option of signing in which ensures a quicker checkout for future orders.

Do you accept returns / refunds?

Yes we can offer refunds within 14 days of purchase, under the following conditions:

  • We offer a full 100% refund on all stock items that have not been used or altered. This applies to items that HAVE NOT been cut to your specification, such as turnbuckles, zipper kits, bulk rolls of netting etc.  Therefore if you accidently over order on accessories that you don't end up using, you can return them for a full refund. Return Shipping is at the buyers expense.
  • For any items that have been cut "by-the-metre", such as netting, edging rope or wire we will refund 50% of the sale price, assuming the item has not been used or altered. For example if you purchased 16m of netting by-the-metre but decided not to build the enclosure for any reason, you could return the netting for a 50% refund. However, if you used 10 of the 16m supplied you cannot return the excess 6m that you no longer require.
  • Any items deemed faulty will be accepted for a full refund. We have a customer first service mentality, so if you're not happy with your product or service for any reason contact us for assistance.
  • Unboxed Freestanding enclosures can be returned for a full 100% refund. Freestanding enclosures once unboxed cannot be returned for change of mind or incorrect size. In a rare occurrence, replacement parts will be sent at no charge for any faulty components.

PRICING

How are your prices so low?

At Catnets you are dealing directly with the importer. Catnets.com.au is operated as a trading business of one of Australia’s largest netting importers, Haverford Pty Ltd.  The business was established in 1888, and has supplied netting for events including the Sydney 2000 Olympics, Taronga Zoo and Expo '88. Our bulk buying power, along with the fact that you are dealing direct with the importer, ensure we can supply nets at low prices. Despite our commitment to fair and reasonable pricing, we will not compromise on quality. We continually test, assess and attempt to improve our nets to ensure they are of the utmost quality.

How much will my cat enclosure cost?

On average, D.I.Y  installations cost less than half of those fully installed. The majority of self installations cost less than $250. Catnets  provide all our pricing online, as we are confident we have the lowest prices available. Our standard netting price is $3.50 per square metre, and we have bulk and monthly specials available online.

Your website quotes $3.50 per Square Metre but it’s different at checkout?

Our standard low-vis netting is $3.50 per square metre. The key is per “SQUARE” metre.

We’ve just taken the “square-metre” calculation out of the equation for you, so all you need to do is enter how many meters you need of a certain width and we take care of the rest.

As an example, you wouldn’t expect to pay the same price for 10m of the 1.8m wide netting, as you would for 10m of the 5m wide netting.

We have pre-calculated the equation in the shopping cart, and all you need to do is enter how many lineal metres  of a certain width net you need.

It is best demonstrated by an example:

  • Customer requires 10m x 3m of netting
  • 10 x 3 = 30 Square Metres
  • 30 square metres at $3.50 = $105
  • In the shopping cart, the 3m width shows up at ($10.50 per lineal metre)
  • $10.50 x 10m = $105
  • So indeed it is $3.50 per square metre… We’ve just taken the Square metre calculation out of the equation for you, so all you need to do is enter how many meters you need of a certain width and we take care of the rest.

Do you have any specials or discounts for large orders?

Yes we have a range of BULK size rolls for several of our items:

  • Netting: Bulk rolls in a range of sizes with prices as low as $2 per square metre
  • Rope: Bulk 50m Rolls
  • Wire: Bulk 100m Rolls
  • Fence brackets: Discount for Boxes of 10

INSTALLATION

Do you have a quote and installation service?

Catnets.com.au does not currently offer an installation service.

If you require a measure and quote for an installation, we suggest you try the following businesses or individuals across Australia. These installers use Catnets netting and you can see some examples of their work on their individual profile pages. You can contact them directly to organise a measure and quote.

Recommended installers list

We must emphasise that these contacts are not employees of catnets.com.au, and a purely a referral from us for a local business in your area. However unlikely, we cannot accept any responsibility for any installation or quotation related issues. Please ensure you clearly clarify your requirements and sale conditions with the listed businesses before proceeding.

I require assistance with installation in a remote or rural area not serviced?

Catnets.com.au does not currently offer an installation service.

If you require a measure and quote for an installation in an area that is not covered by any of our recommended installers, we suggest you discuss your options with a local handyman or builder. Most handymen will have the required tools and skill required to install your cat enclosure.

We recommend you print and show them our FREE downloadable D.I.Y information guide, to give them a basic idea of the concept and the materials involved.

I want to install my enclosure myself, but I don't know where to start?

The best place to start would be by reading our FREE downloadable D.I.Y information guide, and by viewing some previous DIY projects in our image galleries.

NETTING SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

Why should I use netting for my enclosure?

Netting is an ideal material for use as a cat enclosure. It has many benefits including the following:

  • It is very versatile and easy to work with. Netting can be cut to size, shaped around corners and used to fill small holes. It doesn't require any special tools, doesn't involve any heavy lifting, welding or building experience to install.
  • It is affordable. With our netting available at just $3.50 per square metre, netting is the best option for large areas that wouldn't otherwise be enclosable. Most Catnets DIY enclosures cost well under $250.
  • It is strong and long lasting. Our specialised cat netting is designed to last. It is UV treated for outdoor use, has heat strengthened knots and is pre-stretched to avoid sagging.
  • It looks fantastic! Netting (especially our low-vis netting) is barely noticeable once installed. Wire cage enclosures can have a heavy, dominant and overpowering appearance, whereas a low-vis netting enclosure looks subtle and soft.
  • Unlike wire cages, the netting won't get hot-to-touch in the hot summer heat.
  • Won't get caught by the wind like shadecloth.
  • Is airy, and allows you cat to keep cool in the summer months.
  • Unlike wire cages, there are no sharp and DANGEROUS edges that are prone to rust

Is your netting strong & long lasting?

Catnets supplies the highest quality cat netting available, and as a result is the  chosen wholesale supplier of 25+ installers and resellers throughout Australia & New Zealand. Our netting manufacturer is an ISO certified company, and we  personally inspect the facilities on a regular basis to ensure quality is of the upmost importance.

Our high quality netting is strong, long lasting & designed to last in the harsh Australian outdoors. Our nets are UV treated to the maximum percentage without degrading the strength of the netting. More than that, the nets are also regularly tested in an accredited "Accelerated UV Testing facility".

The netting is also "Pre-Stretched" to tension, with Heat-Strengthened Knots. This process is critical when used as a cat net, as it helps avoid stretching and sagging of your net over time.

Through many years of testing, 19mm has been determined to be the maximum hole size that is safe for cats.

Catnets brand netting is the ideal choice for your cat enclosure:

  • High abrasion resistance
  • High  breaking strains
  • UV treated "and tested"
  • Prestretching to tension to avoid sagging
  • Maximum 19mm mesh size

Just take a look at this large male Koala climbing our Low-Vis 19mm netting with no problem at all!

How can I see the quality before I purchase?

Just email us know your delivery address and we'll mail you out some samples straight away.

We are very confident in our product, so we are more than happy to send you out some samples for inspection.

What colours does your netting come in?

Our Low-Vis Black is the most popular colour. As black doesn’t reflect light well, it tends to disappear when installed tight in a backyard environment.
For specific light coloured environments, we also offer stone/beige coloured netting. (In selected sizes only).

Can I purchase by-the-metre?

Can I purchase by-the-metre?

Yes. Most sizes are available by-the-metre.
We also have discounted bulk rolls for larger projects, resellers and installers.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

I am renting and can't make any permanent attachments to my property?

You have a few options in this case:

  1. You can consider one of our Freestanding Portable enclosures. They can be taken down and moved to your new property, and require no permanent attachments. They come up to 5.4m long, which is a significant space, even for numerous cats.
  2. You can contact one of our recommended installer contacts who often have some creative solutions for your space that doesn’t involve any drilling.
  3. The wire rope systems we supply to frame up installations create very minimal impact to your property, and can be removed with very low damage to your surfaces. It may be an option for you to show the systems we have to your owner/body corporate for them to consider.

Why should I enclose my cat?

Research has shown that the overwhelming majority of incidents involving cats occur at night. These studies have also shown that cats restricted at night live up to 3 years longer on average. Contrary to popular belief, cats can live and enjoy a happy and healthy life when properly contained within the backyard.

Catnets.com.au is a major supplier of cat netting throughout Australia. Based out of our two warehouses in Sydney, catnets.com.au offers a range of D.I.Y products, along with a series of recommended installation businesses across Australia.

By enclosing your cat you can help eliminate risk of the following issues:

  • Injured in fights
  • Hit by cars
  • Become lost
  • Catch diseases
  • Neighbourhood nuisence issues
  • Legal requirements
  • Wildlife safety
